Living in Canada
Replace Florida with Seattle and you’ve got me. “Moved to Florida. I can’t imagine why anyone in their right mind would ever want to live in such a God forsaken place as Canada.” canadianthings: teatime-with-nikki: receiver: macaroononastick: DEAR DIARY Aug. 12 - Moved to our new home in Canada. I am so excited. It's so beautiful here. The mountains are so majestic....

Short the airlines
These new TSA rules are absolutely ludicrous. In particular, the one about security screens at the gates. This, my friends, if not temporary will be one more large nail in the coffin of commercial air travel. Here’s the problem: Having a second security screening at the airport will inevitably lead to flight delays. Flight delays translate to lost dollars and missed connections (which are...

I just had the most messed up phone call(s) ever
Ok, so apparently I got a call from someone in Atlanta, GA earlier today when I wasn’t paying attention to my phone. Intrigued that they might have left a message, I go to my home phone (which has anywhere North America minutes) to call my phone to get to voicemail. Alright, so I dial up my number and my cellphone starts to ring. I hit the hang up button so it redirects me to voicemail, but...

Tumbler via tweetie. Cool, except useless. Why would I want to be limited to 140 chars on Tumblr? Also, no https connection makes me sad.

Facebook Moves to Standardize and Own Customer IDs →
Wow. Hell no. This disturbs me greatly. Facebook will never be my identity provider nor will I give it the ability “take the apple away”. I like my anonymity and owning my own identity. In no way do I find having my identity provided by some company whose sole purpose (as demonstrated in the past) is to make money at the expense of user’s privacy comforting.

Some quick data to mull over
Check this out: http://pastebin.com/maae99d7 It might not mean so much to you, so let me boil it down and do some analysis on what they mean. Quick a note on the DNS servers I’m pinging: 8.8.8.8 is Google public DNS’ primary DNS server address. 24.143.124.6 is my local provider’s primary DNS server address (or so I’m told via DHCP) Now, given the few queries I...

DNS by Google = win for all →
Vending out DNS records is an incredibly smart move for Google and is another reason why Google is so ahead in the game when it comes to organizing information on the internet. The amount of metrics they can gather through this is so incredibly valuable. This is a huge win for both Google and their customers, both in terms of a (hopefully) faster and more reliable DNS service and the huge gains...
