Today I was running through the park and I realized I was so focussed on the path in front of me that I wasn’t seeing any of the beauty around me. God has provided this beautiful earth for us with trees, flowers, animals, lakes, and so much more. Even as I was thinking this I was looking a few feet in front of me. I concentrated so much on not tripping and keeping track of the upcoming terrain that I forgot to look around me and enjoy the moment. I was thinking how this is pretty applicable to our lives. We get really caught up in where we’re going that we don’t see where we are, and we’re more concerned with trying not to mess up that we forget how to trust and live in the moment. Let’s try to change that. This is oe of the reasons that i go birding. Cause if you are looking for birds how long you walk does not really matter, the destination does not matter either. Thought it has caused me to almost trip a few times..
I find I have the same problem with biking. I’m trying to go as fast as I can (even though they post speed limits of 20… haha) that I hardly have the time to enjoy the paths I go along. It wasn’t until I went birding yesterday that I really took in the sights along the Don Watershed.
